Why Runsheet

Your factory. Your files. Your margin.

Some services take your design and hand back finished product. It’s easy — but the factory stays their contact, the tech pack stays in their system, and their cut sits inside every unit. Runsheet is the other way round: you find the factory and work with it directly, everything you make stays in your account, and we add nothing to what you pay to get made.

Six reasons

What changes when you work with the factory yourself

A middleman isn’t wrong — you’re paying for someone else to carry the relationship. Here’s what you keep when you carry it.

01
You know who’s making it
Every factory in the directory is named, with its location, what it makes and its minimums — plus reviews from brands who produced there, where they exist. You talk to the factory yourself.

02
Nothing added to your production
We don’t take a cut of what you pay a factory, or of what you pay a consultant. And factories can’t pay for a better ranking or a better review.
What we won’t do →
03
Your tech pack stays yours
Flats, BOM, specs, costing and sampling notes live in your account and export to PDF and Excel. Before you’ve picked a factory, send a watermarked, pricing-only version instead.

04
Make it where it makes sense
Down the street or across the world. Filter by location, service and MOQ, and see what each route really costs once shipping, duties and redone samples are counted.
Domestic vs overseas →
05
Built for apparel
Construction callouts, size charts with grading, sampling rounds with fit comments against the spec, and line sheets buyers order from. Pro Studio adds CLO 3D and Illustrator plugins and Shopify sync.
How it works →
06
The second run is the easy one
Spec, factory, costing and what sold by size stay on one record per style. The reorder starts from that record instead of from your inbox.

A managed service vs Runsheet

Managed services differ, so treat the left column as the usual model rather than any one company.

Typical managed service
Runsheet
Who the factory is
Managed serviceOften not disclosed — the service is your contact
RunsheetNamed in the directory; you deal with them directly
What you pay
Managed serviceOne unit price with their margin built in
RunsheetThe factory’s own quote. Runsheet adds nothing to it
Tech pack & patterns
Managed serviceUsually held in their system
RunsheetIn your account; export whenever you like
Changing factories
Managed serviceUsually means starting again with someone else
RunsheetTake the same tech pack to the next factory
Who runs the project
Managed serviceThey do, start to finish
RunsheetYou do — or a consultant you hire by the project
The reorder
Managed serviceBack through them, at their price
RunsheetSame spec, same factory, straight from your record

Some partner services listed on Runsheet may pay us a referral fee if you work with them. It never changes what you pay, and it never applies to factory quotes or consultant fees.

How it works

Sketch to reorder, in four steps

Start at whichever step you’re stuck on. Nothing here makes you do the others first.

  1. 1
    Get a tech pack
Upload a sketch or photo and a factory-ready draft comes back in minutes — flats, BOM, construction, measurements, editable line by line. The first one is free.
    Draft a tech pack →
  2. 2
    Find your factory
Post a brief — product, quantity, budget, timeline — and matched factories come to you. Free. Or browse the directory and ask for an introduction to the one you like.
    Post a brief →
  3. 3
    Sample in one place
Every round, photo and fit comment sits against the spec, so round three is about the garment, not about finding the email.
    Sampling →
  4. 4
    Produce, then reorder
A costed BOM per style and purchase orders issued from the record. When it sells, the second PO starts from the first.

Fair question

“But I just want someone to handle it.”

Not everyone wants to manage a factory, and you don’t have to. The consultant directory has production managers, technical designers, pattern makers and sample rooms who work by the project. Runsheet takes nothing from what they charge.

The difference from a managed service: you hire them, you know which factory they’re using, and the tech pack is yours when the project ends.
